Codes And Conventions Of A Contents Page

Today in our lesson we annoted Contents pages and this is what we discovered:
  • They all have one main image.
  • They have the main stories off the front cover.
  • They have the date and issue number.
  • Smaller and clearer font so it is easily read.
  • Its always split into 2 or 3 colums.
  • Page numbers are bigger than the other text.
  • Images are different sizes.
  • Theres a gap between each story to seperate each one.
  • There are 2 different headings: Regulars and Features.
  • Coverlines are bold so they stand out.
  • Font size is 11 point.
  • Coverlines are 12/13 point.
  • Band-Long shot.
  • Colour of text stands out from background.
  • Mainly set out down one side.
  • The text surrounds image.
  • Editors letter are on most contents pages.
  • Colour from font needs to be consistant.
  • Page numbers are used to anchor stories to image.
  • The magazine title on contents page rein forces the brand.
  • Main image relates to the article.
  • The main image dominates the page.
